318 Round tank Sight Glass PN 2.5 Light construction
Our round tank sight glasses of Type 318 (PN 2.5) are either welded onto or into a vessel wall, enabling observation or illumination of the vessel interior. ACI tank sight glasses of Type 318 are designed for an operating pressure of 2.5 bar(g), following DIN 28120. A sight glass, made of chemically highly resistant borosilicate glass DIN 7080 (or similar), is clamped between two high-quality stainless steel flanges and proven quality seals.
Compared to the design specified in DIN 28120, our Type 318 is noticeably flatter and lighter. This type serves as a cost-efficient alternative for low operating pressures, effectively filling the application range between our Type 317 for unpressurized operation and the sturdier Type 320 variant.
Despite the lower requirements compared to DIN 28120, our tank sight glasses of Type 318 are crafted from the same high-quality stainless steel 1.4571 (316Ti) that our customers have valued for years. The glass material used is borosilicate glass 3.3 per DIN 7080 (or similar), a well-established material in the industry. Fittings are sealed with flat gaskets tailored to your needs from a diverse range of materials, including common fiber gaskets and more advanced materials such as PTFE (Teflon®), NBR, graphite, and various branded gaskets.
If the maximum operating temperature of 280°C falls short of your requirements, or if process conditions pose challenges for the highly resistant borosilicate glass, a specially adapted FEP or mica protective screen offers additional protection against steam and aggressive chemicals, including alkalis up to a pH value of 14.
Similar to our other sightglass fittings, Type 318 can be equipped with a wiper (Type SGW), spray devices, or lights upon request.
